If you want to live like a country Lord and be only being a short walk from the tube, The Canons Drive Estate could be just up your street. Every resident living on this magnificent estate is given a special key that opens the gate to a 7 acre lake surrounded by a beautiful woodland walk.
Serenity arrives almost immediately as you turn off the busy High Street into Canons Drive. You’ll pass between two gleaming white pillars (once the gate houses to the Duke of Chandos’s estate) and glide up a road with generous grass verges, beautiful tall trees and you’ll probably have to slow down for the ducks and geese that live in a picturesque pond setting to the left of the entrance.
You’ll see a wonderful array of magnificent homes some Tudor style some Edwardian and some with a hint of Art Deco. Many are breath taking with fabulous gardens, balconies and verandas. Some with glorious green hedges so high you really wish you could see more
The Duke of Chandos once lived in a palatial residence at the top of the Drive which is now the North London Collegiate School. He played host to his good friend, Handel, who composed music such as Esther and The Chandos Anthem within the parish
Steeped in history, The Canons Drive is most certainly a beautiful place to live and, amazingly enough, only 40 minutes by tube from central London
